Going through a separation or divorce can be as painful as the death of a spouse.  You never feel as lonely as when a marriage dies, and a range of emotions can knock you down at any point during the day.  Here is a place to find understanding and healing – you are not alone.

DivorceCare, a highly-structured program, meets once a week.  Through workbooks, videotapes and group discussion, we’ll find ways to conquer the many harsh emotions that separation and divorce can bring, including anger, depression and loneliness.    We’ll hear from experts on how to empower yourself and gain control of your basic needs, including finances, housing and sex.  We will also explore how to function as a single parent and help your children deal with this change in their life.  Other weeks will be spent on forgiveness and for some, the hope of reconciliation.

DivorceCare is open to all – you don’t have to be a member of Brushy Creek Baptist Church.  We meet in room E319 on Sundays from 4-6pm, and childcare is provided, as long as you call ahead.  Sessions run for 15 weeks and then repeat.  You can join at any point.  DivorceCare Facilitators are Gene and Pat Bishop (Winter Session) at pstrainu@aol.com or David and Theresa Franklin (Fall Session) at 864-879-1898.   You can also call 864-244-5963 or 1-800-447-3698 for more information. Child care provided but you must call in advance.

Brushy Creek Baptist Church also fully believes that part of the post-divorce healing process involves becoming active again and meeting new friends. Click here to look at some of our Sunday Morning Bible Studies and other activities for Singles.
